4:3 Surefooted

~I found this word when I read Chapter 1 (for our Jigsaw Assignment) in the textbook "Word Wise & Content Rich" written by Douglas Fisher and Nancy Frey. Page 2.

I feel that the definition means: 'Confident.'

~I have heard this word used in conversation but I have never seen it in print or used it myself.

~ I believe this is a good idiom expression to use in the right context.

~ I think it's a good idiom expression for others to know as well because it's context is for everyday situations. It may not necessarily be a good vocab word but definitely a good idiom.

4:2 Slogged

My definition would be: 'To do something lazily'

~I have never seen or used this word before.

~I believe that this is a word that is nice to know but not necessary to get by. It doesn't necessarily make you a 'well-educated' person if you use this word.

~I am indifferent to whether or not others should know this word. I think it isn't exactly a word that you hear ever and necessary for that matter.

4:1 Cobbling

My definition of the word would be: 'Putting together.'
Dictionary.com Definition-To put together roughly or clumsily.

~I have never seen or used this word before.

~I believe this is a word that should be used in my everyday vocabulary. It's so simple.

~I believe that if this is a word I should know then of course others should learn it as well.

3:2 Expository

~I found this vocabulary word when I read for our homework in the textbook called, "Teaching Reading in the Content Areas: If Not Me, Then Who?" written by Rachel Billmeyer, Ph.D. & Mary Lee Barton, M. Ed. Section 1. Page 4.

I can't wrap my head around what this word really means.

~I have heard this word used extensively throughout my college career but I haven't really understood the true meaning of it or the context its used in.

~I believe this is a word that should most definitely be part of my everyday vocabulary since it is so commonly used (at least in my degree program) and it has something to do with the subjects I have been studying.

~I do believe that others in my field and similar fields should know this word as well because it is relevant.

3:1 Analogous

~ I found this word during my reading of "Teaching Reading in The ContentAreas: If Not Me, Then Who?" Page 4, Second Paragraph.

~I have seen this word occasionally throughout my college studies but have never taken the time to look it up.

~I believe this word will be used quite a bit in my vocabulary as I continue my education. This is a great word to replace "similar." I am fond of 'useful' vocabulary terms.

~I think this is definitely a good vocabulary word for my classmates and students to know because this word can replace an all day everyday used word (similar) and might be useful. It is always good to increase your awareness of the use of language, especially within its context.
